The Shaker Historical Society’s (SHS) mission is to inspire people to celebrate and engage in the Shaker Heights story and its impact on the region… past, present and future.
Founded in 1947, the SHS preserves the legacy of the Shakers of North Union who settled on land that is now a part of the city. Visitors may enjoy a museum, art gallery, research library and local gift shop that celebrates one of America's first garden city suburbs, the Shakers who lived here 1822-1889 and the Myers family home built in 1910. Tours are self-guided. Group tours must be arranged in advance.
