Surrounded by rolling farmlands, diverse communities and a majestic Great Lake, the people of Lorain County participate in a rich history. Since 1889, the Lorain County Historical Society has preserved and shared this legacy. Visit the Lorain County History Center in the ADA-accessible Starr House, completed in 1857, to get a taste of the Society’s collection, with exhibits in seven galleries. Conduct research in the library and buy local history books in the gift shop. Tour the stunning rooms of The Hickories museum to see a beautiful mansion completed at the turn of the twentieth century.
