From rolling farmlands to bustling factories and established cities to our majestic Great Lake, Lorain County enjoys a rich history. Since 1889, the Lorain County Historical Society has preserved and shared this legacy and its impact on the world. Visit the Lorain County History Center in the historic Starr House to get a history overview, conduct historical and genealogical research in the library, and look in our small gift shop. Tour the stunning rooms of The Hickories Museum, once the home of Arthur Garford and his family, funded by Garford’s famous invention, the padded bicycle seat.
