The Mott building is on the Department of Interior's National Register of Historic Places. The building dates back to the 1830s and was the home of Mott's Drug Store in the late 1800s. The museum now houses collections and artifacts pertaining to the history of Garrettsville, Freedom and Nelson in Portage County, which is the James A. Garfield School District.
