The Aurora Historical Society is dedicated to preserving the history of Aurora and its important part in the development of the Western Reserve. Founded in 1799 by Ebenezer Sheldon, Aurora was once the "Cheese Capital" of the world, exporting 4 million pounds in 1904. The Society works with the schools and community to educate its citizens.
