The land for the African American Cultural Garden was dedicated on October 23, 1977. It is a 4 acre site extending from Wheelock Ave. to MLK Blvd. It is one of 38 Gardens to be enjoyed in the Cleveland Cultural Garden Federation. The African American Garden is part of the Cleveland Civil Rights Trail and is being built in phases. It represents the African American journey—past, present, and future—beginning with departure from Africa through the “Doorway and Corridor of No Return”, which was built and dedicated Juneteenth 2016.
