The Society was founded in 1953 & incorporated as a non-profit in 1961. The Society took on the challenge of preserving the history of the original township & became the Olmsted Historical Society in 1969. The Frostville Village Museum consists of the Jenkins Cabin (1820), Carpenter House (1831), Briggs House (1836), Thompson House (1838), Church (1847), Prechtel House (1876), Hearse Barn (1876), General Store, Display Barn, Events Barn, Workshop and Schoolhouse. The Frostville Museum exists to preserve & educate about life in the 19th century.
